Grandpa Journal Printable
I created this printable journal for Christmas gifts for both our kids grandpas, but it makes a perfect birthday or Father’s Day gift as well! It’s designed to be interactive, requesting the child to interview the grandpa for answers ahead of time. Then the child is asked to engage creatively with Grandpa’s answers.
The journal covers 9 separate categories:
- Geneaology
- Heritage
- Tradition
- Profession
- Holidays
- Faith
- Passion
- Food
- Family
The journal is designed for kids aged 7-12 who are fairly comfortable with writing, but it can be adapted to younger ages with the help of parents. Our 7 year old son interviewed both of his grandpas over the phone and then used the answers from the interview to fill out the journal. We then bound the journals, wrapped them, and gifted them for Christmas!
The front and back pages of the journals are intended for handprint and footprint art, which is an easy way to incorporate little ones who aren’t reading and writing yet.

Last year, I wrote a Father’s Day post about how under-appreciated fathers can be in our culture. Sometimes, reminding Dad how special he is and reminding the kids to appreciate everything that he does can do wonders for the whole family. If you’re looking for something quick, easy, and meaningful to gift Dad this Father’s Day, then check out this simple printable below!
Happy Father’s Day to all you incredible dads and grandfathers out there and wishing you a day filled with sunlight, peace, and appreciation!
